VLOG: Designing Dynamic Virtual PD

Check out my IGTV where I share my takeaways from designing dynamic synchronous PD. More resources below!

Takeaways and resources mentioned:

  • Blend it up—-> Model the synchronous sandwich
    • Don’t be afraid of pre-work for a blended learning approach–> See an example Choice Board for PD here! It saves/honors time AND builds excitement, background knowledge, and familiarity with the facilitator.
  •  Model use of best practices
    •  Offer invitations vs norms/agreements + readiness checklist
    • Share DQ/success criteria and revisiting Knows and Need To Knows
    • Tech tools to keep participants engaged
      • My favorites: Padlet, Mentimeter
    • Share clear next steps
    • Use discussion protocols--> check out more on discussion protocols for virtual learning here
  •  Build in accountability (“show your screen”, tweet it out!, have a deliverable participants can screenshot and share in a Padlet!)
  • Stay organized—-> Use a dynamic, hyperlinked agenda and place all documents in one Google Drive folder . Check out this example.
