Project: Mapping our Community [2.0]

Grade: Second

Enduring Understanding:

Our community is made up of heroes who make a difference, and they come from many places.

We have many heroes in our community (SS2.2)

ELA informational writing

Driving Question:

How can we, as 2nd graders, honor the heroes in our community? [How can we as teachers do this in a more sustainable way?!]

Final products:

Students will interview community members. They will take what they learn from their interview to write an informational piece that will appear in the formal of a google slide. 

Exhibition:

A community volunteer will help our class to identify where all those interviewed come from, on a large mural map. The location of each interviewee will be identified on the map with a QR code that passerbys can scan to see student writing about that person [google slide].
