AI in PBL Round-Up
AI is feeling really scary these days to everybody, but teachers especially. In an effort to turn the pressure cooker down a bit, I want to share a few ways that AI actually helped me design project based learning curriculum and saved me a ton of time.
- AI helped students develop better agency. Through more open-ended tasks in PBL students had more opportunity to practice building skills such as ownership and accountability. Read more on my Substack here.
- AI supported me in designing more relevant and meaningful projects. I was able to cater my project based curriculum to specific seasons, school and world events. Read more on my Substack here.
- AI helped me develop better teacher-student relationships because I was more present and available during class. AI took the burden of project planning off my plate and gave me the gift of time. Read more on my Substack here.
- AI served as my Thought Partner and pushed my practice. AI helped me come up with project ideas, activities, and assessments. AI even game me daily feedback on my teaching! Read more on my Substack here.
To do PBL with fidelity is really hard- full stop. At this point in my life, I don’t really know any other way of teaching so it wasn’t optional for me to teach in a traditional format. AI allowed me to deliver some of the best learning experiences in my 22 years of education, and I hope I inspire you to give it a try!
