Why this PBL workbook, why now? Jenny explains on the inside cover, addressed to the CraftED Community:

A Note From Jenny:
This workbook reflects the project planning process I have developed from my experience in the field of project-based learning (PBL). From my time as a teacher at High Tech High schools, to serving as a school development coach for New Tech Network, to being a faculty member of the Buck Institute for Education, I have learned that while project planning frameworks can be helpful, they also can be overwhelming—especially when they are multiple pages long and include a staple! When I started to support teachers independently through my company, CraftED, I decided I would walk them through projects the way I processed them in my head—using simple but effective best practices of Backwards Design to get to high quality PBL. For two years that process worked, but it was pretty ugly. Teachers would leave my planning sessions with large poster papers or whiteboard snapshots covered with my signature umbrella arch, chicken scratch writing, and tons of arrows and sticky notes. This book is an attempt to tidy up that planning process so teachers can document it in a clearer and more efficient way. To that end, this book provides:

  • Reproducible project planning forms for teachers, including brainstorming
  • Frameworks for standards, project overview flow, teacher and student
  • Assessment tools, and a project calendar—and examples of each.
  • Additional teacher tips and resources for planning along the way.
  • Tools to make your planning easy.

I’m so excited to share this piece of me with those beyond the existing CraftED Community.
Cheers to digging deep-

Jenny
