Moving from face-to-face PBL support to fully virtual PD

The Challenge:

CraftED had been working successfully with Da Vinci Rise teachers since December 2019 on a PBL framework that would support DVR’s unique school model and align with their learning platform. When schools closed due to COVID-19 in March of 2020, DVR leadership knew that teachers were going to need help transitioning their project plans over to virtual learning. DVR leadership reached out to Jenny to design synchronous and asynchronous PD support for teachers for the Spring and Summer of 2020. 

The Solution:

Jenny first set out to design a full day of engaging learning experiences for DVR staff during a PD day; with an interactive agenda for a whole-staff meeting and individual follow-up video calls for project coaching. Jenny stayed in close contact with DVR leadership to continue to provide resources for virtual learning as needed-for both teachers and school leaders.

The Result :

  • Teachers felt prepared to transition their previously planned projects over to a virtual setting in the spring of 2020.
  • Due to the success of the PBL support provided by Jenny, DVR leadership continued to reach out to ask for ongoing support. 
  • Jenny provided Back to School PD plans for DVR to implement in the Fall of 2020.
