CraftED STEAM INSIGHT

Last week 35 individuals came together across the industries of education, digital media, fine arts, science, mathematics, and professional writing to connect and build relationships for possible collaboration. What this showing supports is the San Diego community wants to work together to create more meaningful learning experiences for our students. Co-hosted by CraftED and STEAM Insight, founders Jenny Pieratt and Kim Richards were passionate about creating an experience that not only bridged these relationships, but also provided some tangible next steps for those who attended the event.

CRAFTED STEAM INSIGHT

CRAFTED STEAM INSIGHTThe casual activity for the evening included individuals brainstorming ideas for a project that could incorporate organizations represented in the room. As the night when on participants were invited to add to these ideas to create a more collective brainstorm. By doing this individuals “from industry” were able to see how they can work with schools to create engaging learning experiences. Similarly, educators begin to think about leveraging the local community as a starting place for project ideation and continuing this connection throughout an entire project.

We hope that participants and readers take these ideas and run with them! CraftED and STEAM Insight are thrilled to support this work!
