Customized Curriculum Design for National Donor

Client: DreamUP Space  and National Stem Cell Foundation

The Challenge:

DreamUp provides space research opportunities for teachers and students to work with actual scientists and collect data from space. As scientists, they don’t have a curriculum background; however they are often approached by donors to fund student-space projects or additional learning opportunities.  One large foundation included the National Stem Cell Foundation who was looking to take the work of Dream UP and collaborate with a teacher education program at the University of Kentucky, to train teachers in STEM. Dream UP needed an expert in NGSS, STEM and PBL to help with curriculum development that aligned with their space research, to provide for this teacher education program.

The Solution:

After having previously collaborated with CraftED, Dream Up knew that we could put together a perfect team of a science expert, PBL expert, Editor and Designer to create this custom curriculum for a high profile client like the National Stem Cell Foundation. CraftED worked closely with all parties (University of Kentucky, Dream Up, National Stem Cell Foundation) to create a custom product to meet the desires of all parties.

The Results:

  • Through several iterations of a framework, CraftED’s team was able to create a completely custom teaching and learning model that met all the requests of all parties.
  • Curriculum provided by CraftED was fully edited, designed and white-labeled for DreamUp and National Stem Cell Foundation
  • A cohort of 50 teachers from the University of Kentucky were provided an entire STEM unit of study that aligned to a Problem Based Framework and included 5E NGSS lessons.
