The What
This strategy helps prepare students for formal oral presentations in front of an expert panel by having them anticipate the line of questioning they will encounter during Q&A. Through analysis, reflection, and practice, students will develop critical thinking and oral communication skills that effectively prepare them for this type of performance-based assessment.

The Why
Having an authentic audience immediately creates a high stakes learning environment, and setting students up for success in this context is critical to developing academic mindsets. Asking experts to serve as panelists for student presentations requires students to apply their content knowledge, and often in non-routine ways. In addition to enhancing their critical thinking skills, answering questions from experts further develops their ability to orally communicate content in real-world contexts.
